Very few days on the calendar, other than Christmas and New Year’s Eve, compete with Valentine’s Day in terms of the sheer volume of marriage proposals. Valentine’s Day is a natural. It is a day specifically set aside to celebrate the love between couples, making it the perfect date to pop the question.
With Valentine’s Day 2016 right around the corner, we want to help you by offering a few creative ideas for a wonderful proposal that the love of your life will never forget. Take advantage of this day to do something truly unique and memorable. Also, do not forget to visit us at the Engage Diamond Studio in Toronto for your engagement ring and wedding bands.
14 Days of Valentines
You can create a Valentine’s Day variation of the 12 Days of Christmas by giving your love a special gift each day during the two weeks leading up to the Big One. Each day’s gift should be gradually more valuable (not necessarily monetarily) in order to build the anticipation. Your final gift on Valentine’s Day itself can be an engagement ring along with your heartfelt proposal. Do this right and you will not only get a ‘yes’, but you will also establish an anniversary tradition that you and your future spouse can enjoy for the rest of your lives.
Writing Valentine’s Day Cards
Remember those silly little Valentines cards you used to fill out and give to your friends when you were a kid? They offer a great and unique way to propose. On the eve of Valentine’s Day, tell the love of your life you feel like being a kid again. Tell her you just want to fill out a bunch of Valentines cards for your friends and family. Little will she know that you have already written one for her, including your proposal. Hide your personally-written card in the stack you give to her, then sit down at the table and start writing. Just wait until she finds it!
Write It in the Stars
If you have access to your future partner’s bedroom – assuming you do not already live together – you can write your proposal on the ceiling using temporary, glow-in-the-dark stars or letters. Create a unique proposal message along with a hint as to where the engagement ring can be found. Hopefully, you’ll be getting a phone call before you head to bed yourself.
Create a Special Chocolate
Our last suggestion requires a bit of artistry and patience. It also requires a fairly sizable filled chocolate – your average bonbon should do. Here’s what you do: put the piece of chocolate in the refrigerator for several hours in order to firm it up. Then, gently slice it in half using a sharp knife. Hollow out the chocolate, replacing its contents with that custom engagement ring you purchased. By the way, you might want to cover the ring with cellophane first. Then simply rejoin the two halves of chocolate and use a little bit of heat to melt them together. Put the chocolate back in the refrigerator so it has time to firm up once again.
You can present your love with her special chocolate just after a very romantic dinner. But be careful: tell her to bite gently because you think there’s something pretty hard inside.
