The latest engagement ring trends are exciting to anyone who loves fine, custom jewellery. Engage Diamond Studio is one such gallery in Toronto where customized pieces are a speciality. From diamond engagement rings to wedding bands to other jewellery pieces, we can create something based on the latest trends or an entirely different and original idea. It is entirely up to you.
We have seen a number of engagement ring trends take hold in 2015. We expect them to remain popular into 2016 as well. Some of those trends include the following:
1. Marquis Diamond Accents
Marquis cut diamonds are beautiful to look at in their own right. But when used as an accent around a larger centre stone, they create an exceptional level of brilliance and opulence. Marquis cut diamonds are extremely popular right now as accents. And, in fact, more is better.
We are seeing some settings offering just a few dozen marquis diamonds. But we have also personally worked on custom engagement rings offering as many as 200 smaller stones as accents. The brilliance of the marquis cut is impressive – even with smaller stones.
2. Split Shank Band
The split shank band is nothing new in the world of custom engagement rings. But it has been an exceptionally strong performer for 2015. The split shank creates an additional level of definition by allowing the skin of the finger to show through between the splits. This focuses additional attention around the centre stone. One of our top selling split shank engagement rings offers a tapered ribbon look for a touch of sophistication and elegance.
3. Unusual Halo Designs
The halo engagement ring is a classic. A halo setting is a perfect choice to show off an impressive centre stone, usually a white diamond. But the bride-to-be can choose any colour she likes (more on that later). Surrounding the centre stone is a ring of accent stones that are either diamonds or complementary stones of different colours.
Along the same lines, we also see increased interest in mixed colours of gold. For example, you may choose a rose gold band with a white gold setting for a bit of a contrast and a little extra flair. You might even choose to mix rose and yellow gold in your halo design.
4. Alternate Colour Choices
White diamonds have been the traditional stone of choice for custom engagement rings. But times are changing. We have noticed increased interest in both coloured diamonds and alternative gemstones for engagement rings. In terms of coloured diamonds, pink, blue, and yellow are very popular. The coloured gemstones of choice include things such as ruby, amethyst, and garnet.
Along those same lines, combining coloured accent stones with a white diamond is also hot right now. A deep blue tanzanite or rich green emerald make excellent choices, especially when a white gold band is chosen.
5. Trinity Rings
The Trinity ring, also known as the three stone ring, is very popular among couples looking for engagement rings. The symbolism of the trinity ring makes it unique. Some couples are choosing white diamonds for all three stones; others are choosing coloured gemstones or a combination of both. The Trinity ring is a lovely way to remind yourself of love past, present, and future.
