The 5 Rules of Proposal

There are as many different ways to propose as there are people on the planet. We are all different. So do not be fooled by someone who tells you there is only one perfect way to pop the question to your intended. You are limited only by your imagination in this endeavour. Moreover, as with anything else, a larger investment in creativity and effort will yield a much more memorable experience.

At Engage Diamond Studio, we can help you with custom engagement rings or a beautiful tension set from Gelin Abaci, but we cannot make the proposal for you. That is your job. To make your life somewhat easier, we have put together the following five rules of proposal. Keep these things in mind and you will be just fine.

Rule #1: Be Very Careful about Going Public

We live in a social media world, where day to day experiences are being posted everywhere. It is a culture that regularly sees the need to out-do, for the purposes of creating a social media stir that goes viral. Avoid the temptation when it comes to your wedding proposal. Think long and hard before issuing your proposal in a public place – the Rogers Centre in Toronto is a good example. Unless you are willing to be humiliated in front of 50,000 people, keep your proposal private.

Rule #2: Keep It Romantic

Life is not exactly like the fairy tales we used to read as children. At the same time, there is nothing wrong with creating a proposal experience your partner will remember for a lifetime. In fact, doing so is a good thing. Get to know what your partner considers really romantic and aim for that. The more effort you put into the romance aspect, the more exciting your proposal will be.

Rule #3: Don’t Forget the Ring

More than one couple has started out on the wrong foot by not having an engagement ring present during the proposal. The engagement ring is a symbolic representation of you wanting to spend the rest of your life with your beloved. We invite you to visit Engage Diamond Studio in Toronto. We have a beautiful selection of engagement rings for any budget.

Rule #4: Surprise Her, Not You

This rule is actually not original to Engage Diamond Studio; it is one of the most commonly cited rules among wedding planners and experts. She should be surprised inasmuch as she never knows when you will pop the question accompanied with that stunning Gelin Abaci ring. However, you should not be surprised. If you are not confident that her answer will be ‘yes’, you might want to give the relationship a bit more time.

Rule #5: Enjoy Yourself

Hopefully, you’ll only have the chance to propose once. This means you are looking at an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something truly unique. Make a day of it. Take the time to enjoy yourself with your intended, doing those things that you find especially invigorating, those things that make you feel so alive. Near the end of the day is the perfect time to pop the question. Doing so will be the perfect finish on what was hopefully a perfect day.

How you go about proposing is entirely up to you. Our job at Engage Diamond Studio is to dress you with beautiful jewellery. We offer custom engagement rings for both him and her, stunning wedding bands, and complete sets as well. Our Toronto studio is the place to find the finest diamonds and other jewellery in Canada’s most dynamic city. We hope you will come visit us in anticipation of your pending proposal.
