‘Tis the Season for Showing off Diamond Engagement Rings

What is it about the Christmas/New Year’s holidays that seem to invite wedding proposals? We don’t know, but there’s no denying the fact that January is the season for showing off diamond engagement rings. Everywhere you go, it seems as though someone has become engaged during the holiday season. The stars are no exception.

January is also a month of red carpet galas involving celebrities in film, music and theatre. And of course, there is an army of media personnel whose sole purpose in life is to analyze who comes down the red carpet and what they are wearing. But that’s not all bad. If it were not for these dedicated people, we would never get to see some of the incredible diamond engagement rings the stars are displaying. Here are just a few examples:

•Sophia Vergara – Former model turned actress Sophia Vergara landed at the 2015 SAG Awards sporting a stunning new diamond from fiancé Joe Manganiello. Vergara was not shy about telling reporters how much she loves bling. She also hinted that Joe knew what she wanted and performed admirably.

•Joanne Froggatt – Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt was also happy to bring her massive engagement ring to the 2015 SAG Awards. She told reporters that her new ring was the only diamond she owned – all the rest had “gone back”, whatever that means.

•Grace Miguel – Usher’s fiancé, Grace Miguel, may not have shown up at an awards show sporting a massive diamond, but she still has one. We know of her engagement because Miguel was spotted wearing the ring while out and about in New York. Some reports say it could be worth $100,000 or more.

This is just a small sampling of celebrities showing off diamond engagement rings. Nevertheless, they are not the only ones. Maybe there’s someone in your office with a brand-new diamond. On the other hand, maybe there is a friend or relative you are thinking of right now who recently became engaged. No matter who they are, they love showing off those diamonds.

What a Diamond Says

No one knows for sure why women love to show off diamond engagement rings as they do. However, there is plenty of speculation. For example, some people believe that a diamond says a woman has been spoken for. This might be something a woman would want her competition to know without ambiguity.

Another reason for showing off a diamond is to demonstrate how much your intended spent on the engagement. As the thinking goes, a more valuable diamond shows a higher level of love and commitment. We do not know if that is true, but we do know that some people think that way.

We would like to think that showing off a diamond engagement ring is all about wanting to say to the world that you and your fiancé truly love one another and are committed to each other forever. In that sense, a diamond should truly be forever. If a diamond engagement ring is more about money than love, a relationship is in trouble before it has even started.

In the end, it is not up to Engage Diamond Studio to figure out why women love to display their diamonds. And that’s okay. We are just happy to be able to provide the diamonds and settings that our customers love. Whether you are in the market for wedding bands, diamond engagement rings or something else entirely, we invite you to visit our Toronto showroom.
