Even though we think of weddings as spring and summer events, many people prefer to get married in the fall and winter. What’s more, the later months of the year are a great time to buy diamond jewellery in Toronto. The passing of the busy summer season opens the door to some very beautiful fall and winter designs that can make any jewellery purchase much more special. This year is no exception.
According to the NY Accredited Gemological Institute (AGI), the new collections introduced by designers in recent weeks coincide with many of the trends in fashion, hair and makeup. As such, there are some very exciting pieces that consumers can add to their collections or choose for their first diamond purchases. They say this fall and winter is all about being big, bold and beautiful.
Gold, Gold, Gold
Gold has always been the favorite metal for diamond jewellery. That said, it is ever more popular in the fall and winter months because it goes very well with the more formal outfits people are wearing to holiday parties. AGI says yellow gold is very popular during the fall and winter for this very reason. White and rose gold are good options as well.
Hearts and Floral Designs
Heart-shaped jewellery is also going to be big this fall and winter, says AGI. They expect to see more heart-shaped necklaces incorporating lots of gold and fine diamonds, along with heart-shaped brooches, earrings and, of course, heart-shaped settings for diamond rings. AGI expects hearts to sell very well through Valentine’s Day, at least.
Ring designers introduced a number of new floral designs at the start of the fall season. Combining gold and diamonds to create intricate flower patterns produces stunning jewelry pieces that look great on any finger. Although not as prominent for bracelets, necklaces and other pieces, floral designs are available in a wide variety of styles.
Trends for Brides
Brides-to-be and their fiancés will be looking at diamond engagement rings this fall and winter, in preparation for next year’s spring and summer weddings. With that in mind, AGI says there are some interesting trends in bridal fashions to watch out for. At the top of the list is a preference for cushion cut diamonds. These stone appear like oval-shaped diamonds with rounded corners. At the hands of an experienced diamond cutter, a well cut stone of this sort is both beautiful and tastefully delicate.
Fall and winter bridal trends also suggest that the big and bold be reserved for other sorts of jewellery. Diamond engagement rings are more likely to include small settings, perhaps with just a single stone. Subtle and unobtrusive is the choice for diamond engagement rings this fall and winter.
Lastly, AGI believes more brides-to-be will be choosing eternity rings for their engagement rather than traditional diamond engagement rings. Eternity rings are more reserved yet no less elegant. Silver bands with multiple stones inset all the way around are very good choices this year.
